See your resume the way the ATS sees it.
Most applicant tracking systems don't reject resumes. They store them, and recruiters search that store. If your phone number lived in a header or your dates sat in a table, those fields are empty and you never come up. Upload your resume to see exactly what was saved, get an ATS score out of 100, and fix it in minutes.
By checking a file you agree it is processed in memory only. See our privacy note.
How it works
Four steps, about a minute.
Nothing to install and no account. You see the evidence before you see a number.
- 01
Upload your resume
PDF or Word. It is read in memory on our server and discarded the moment your results come back.
- 02
See what the parser extracted
Your document beside the record an ATS would store: name, email, phone, each role and its dates, education, skills. Empty fields are marked.
- 03
Fix what is broken, in order
Every issue quotes your own text and gives a specific fix. Weak bullets get an optional AI rewrite that never invents numbers.
- 04
Match it to a job, then download
Paste a job description for a keyword and title gap. Download a clean, single-column version as Word or PDF.
Three free tools
Check it, fix it, then do the same for LinkedIn.

A two-column resume, read the way a parser reads it.
Parsers read across the page, line by line. A sidebar beside your experience gets stitched into it: skills land in job titles, dates land in skills, and the role you held in 2019 merges into the one from 2021.
No error is shown. The recruiter searching for “Product Analyst” simply never sees you. This is why we show you the extracted record first, and the score second.

What we check
Every score breaks down into checks you can open.
No black-box number. Each check is pass, warning or fail, quotes the text it is about, and is worth a stated number of points.
Can a parser read it?
Parse Integrity
Extractable text
Scanned or image-only resumes have nothing to read at all.
Contact details found
Name, email and phone located in the body, not lost in a header or footer.
Columns and tables
Multi-column layouts and layout tables scramble reading order.
Text boxes and graphics
Skill bars, icons and text boxes are often skipped entirely.
Standard section headings
'Experience' is recognised. 'My Journey' is not.
Dates and fonts
Consistent month and year formats, fonts installed on servers.
Will a recruiter rate it?
Content
Quantified bullets
Bullets with a number in them, flagged when there are none.
Weak openers
'Responsible for', 'Helped with', 'Worked on' and similar.
Padding
Very short bullets and the same verb used again and again.
Employment gaps
Gaps longer than six months with nothing to explain them.
LinkedIn and pronouns
A profile link present, first-person pronouns absent.
Does it fit this posting?
Job Match
Job title
Whether the posting's title, or a close variant, appears on your resume.
Hard skills
Tools, technologies and certifications the posting names, and which you lack.
Repeated keywords
Phrases the posting leans on, counted in both documents.

Why there is no single magic number
An ATS score without a job is guesswork.
Many tools give you one “ATS compatibility” score out of 100. There is no standard behind it. Greenhouse, one of the most widely used systems, doesn't score or rank resumes at all.
So we measure the two things that can actually be checked. Parse Integrity: does your content survive extraction? And, only when you give us a posting, Job Match: does your resume use its title and skills?
Scores are calculated by fixed rules, never by AI, so the same file always gets the same result.
Template library
Good-looking, and still readable by a parser.
Classic and modern ATS-safe templates in Word and PDF, plus clearly marked creative designs for when you're emailing a person. Fill any of them in with the builder.
Questions
Frequently asked
Longer answers live in the guides:
Is this ATS resume checker really free?
Yes. Uploading, the parser view, every check, the scores and the job description match are free with no sign-up. The optional AI rewrites are free too, within a daily limit.
Do applicant tracking systems automatically reject resumes?
Mostly, no. Many widely used systems, Greenhouse among them, do not score or rank resumes at all, and most recruiters say their system does not auto-reject on formatting. The real risk is quieter: when a resume parses badly, its fields are stored empty or scrambled, so it never comes up when a recruiter searches the database for a title or skill.
What is a good ATS score?
Be wary of any single 'ATS score' calculated without a job description: there is no industry standard behind it. We report two things you can verify. Parse Integrity measures how much of your resume survives extraction, and above 85 means it parses cleanly. Job Match is only shown when you paste a job description, and compares your resume against that one posting.
Can an ATS read a PDF resume?
Usually, yes, if the PDF was exported from a word processor and contains real text. A PDF that is a scan or an image has no text to extract, which is the most damaging problem a resume can have. Our first check tells you which kind you have.
Should my resume be one page or two?
Two pages perform as well as one at every level of seniority, so we never penalise length on its own. We do flag padding: very short bullets, repeated phrasing and vague duties that take space without saying anything.
Why does a two-column resume cause problems?
Most parsers read a page from left to right, line by line. With two columns, each line of your sidebar gets joined to the line beside it in the main column, so dates, job titles and skills end up mixed together. Upload one and switch to 'Raw text' in the results to see exactly what happens.
Is my resume stored or shared?
No. The file is read in memory on our server, analysed, and discarded as soon as your results are sent back. Nothing is written to disk and there is no database. Your results live only in your browser tab and are cleared when you close it.
Does the AI make up achievements?
It is instructed not to, and the rewrites are built to make that visible. When a bullet would be stronger with a number, the rewrite inserts a [metric] placeholder for you to fill in rather than inventing one. Scores never use AI, so the same file always gets the same result.
Which file types can I upload?
PDF and Word (.docx), up to 4 MB. Older .doc files need to be re-saved as .docx first. We check the file's contents rather than trusting its extension.
